100+ Years of Trusted Seed Supply

Established in Baltimore City in 1910

Meyer Seed Company specializes in vegetable, flower, grass, and bird seeds. As the company has grown, its offerings have become more diverse. In addition to seed, Meyer Seed represents many product lines allied to the independent lawn and garden trade. Other channels include servicing the commercial grower and landscaper.

Through the years, company growth has never undermined the mission: responsive, quality service while supplying products at competitive prices.

For more than a century, Meyer Seed Company has served the Mid-Atlantic region from its roots in Baltimore City. The business began with a simple focus on providing quality vegetable, flower, and grass seed to local growers, and that commitment has never wavered. Over the decades, the company has adapted to the changing needs of gardeners and landscapers while preserving the personal, knowledgeable service that defines a true independent seed house. Every packet and bulk order reflects generations of experience in the seed trade.

The vegetable seed selection spans a vast range of home garden favorites and specialty varieties alike. Gardeners can find everything from heirloom tomatoes and crisp salad greens to robust peppers and root crops suited to Maryland's growing conditions. Each variety is chosen with an eye toward vigor, flavor, and regional adaptability. Whether planning a small backyard plot or a larger kitchen garden, home growers can rely on seeds that have been selected for consistent performance through the Mid-Atlantic seasons.

Flower seeds bring color and life to gardens of every size, and the offerings at Meyer Seed cover a broad spectrum of annuals, perennials, and specialty blooms. From bright sunflowers and cheerful zinnias to delicate cosmos and old-fashioned favorites, there is something for every landscape vision. Many varieties attract pollinators and beneficial insects, supporting a healthy garden ecosystem. With careful attention to germination quality, these flower seeds give gardeners a strong start toward a vibrant and rewarding display throughout the growing season.

A healthy lawn begins with the right grass seed, and Meyer Seed Company has long specialized in blends suited to the region's climate and soil conditions. The grass seed offerings include options for sunny yards, shaded areas, and high-traffic spaces, giving homeowners and professionals the tools to establish or renovate turf with confidence. Selecting regionally appropriate varieties helps produce a dense, resilient lawn that can better withstand summer heat and seasonal transitions without excessive water or chemical inputs.

Bird seed and wildlife feed form another cornerstone of the product line, reflecting a deep understanding of backyard habitats across Maryland and beyond. Quality blends attract a diverse array of songbirds, from cardinals and finches to chickadees and nuthatches, turning any outdoor space into a lively natural retreat. Clean, well-formulated mixes minimize waste and help support the nutritional needs of wild birds year-round, whether during the demanding nesting season or the cold months when natural food sources grow scarce.

Beyond the home gardener, Meyer Seed serves a broad commercial audience that includes landscapers, turf professionals, and agricultural growers. The company's wholesale channels provide bulk seed, allied lawn and garden products, and dependable fulfillment for businesses that depend on consistent quality and timely delivery. This commercial side of the operation has grown steadily, yet it remains grounded in the same principles that have guided the company since its founding: responsive service, practical knowledge, and competitive pricing without cutting corners on quality.
